In Toogood’s impressive, naturally climate controlled 5000-square foot wine cave,  taste and learn about an array of lesser-known wine varieties along with some of Fair Play’s finest Port-style wines. The Mittelstaedt family is often onsite to answer questions and talk about the wine.

Experience the only Estate Champagne house in the Sierra Foothills. Taste some award-winning, handcrafted Champagnes and learn about the art and science of Champagne making from the winemaker. Learn how to riddle a Champagne bottle and see how much skill and dexterity it takes.

What is minimal-intervention winemaking? Why does higher-acidity wine work better with food? What causes wine allergies, and how can you avoid them? A visit to Cantiga is both an experience and an education, as the winemakers love to talk with guests. Just be sure to ask for “the spiel.” There will be a quiz!

Through its Obscurity Cellars label, Oakstone Winery has a long history of producing and educating visitors about unusual wine varieties. After tasting an array of obscure varieties with the winemaker and/or owner, you'll be sure to leave with more wine knowledge than you had when you arrived!
